BATON ROUGE, LA — Louisiana's State Treasurer says that it's time for the state to buckle down and take a hard look at finances.
John Kennedy told NBC33 that the State of Louisiana is running on a $25 billion budget, and thinks that amount of cash should be plenty to run the state and keep up its vital services.
“The problem is how we spend the money we do have,” stated Kennedy. “We don't prioritize our spending.”
Kennedy believes that Louisiana has a bad habit of taxing small businesses too heavily and running them out of business. He stated that state lawmakers need to re-think Louisiana's priorities.
