HOUSTON, TX — When the Southern University football team makes its second trip to Houston this season, the Jaguars will make arrangements to leave a day earlier than originally schedule.
Texas Southern announced the November 2 game against Southern has been moved to November 1 at 8 p.m. in BBVA Compass Stadium. Texas Southern made the decision due to a possible conflict with Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, which plays their home games in the newly-minted stadium. The Dynamo had November 2 reserved as a potential home playoff game.
TSU decided to move the game to Friday to better accommodate the both fanbases.
“It was a better option than moving it to a Thursday night because it gives the fans in Houston an opportunity to finish out their work week and come to the game, and it will eliminate a two-day turn-around off work for fans traveling from Baton Rouge,” said athletics director Dr. Charles McClelland. “Hopefully our decision works best for all parties involved.”
It will be a short week for both programs as the Jaguars return to action after facing Alcorn State for homecoming on October 26 while the Tigers will be coming off a road game at Grambling.
