TIMPSON, TX (NBC33) — A 4.1 earthquake rocked a small town in East Texas located near the Louisiana border.
According to the U.S. Geographical Survey the quake hit the town of Timpson shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2.
Timpson is located roughly 70 miles from the heart of downtown Shreveport.
No information was provided regarding the extent of possible damage.
The Timpson Fire Department is warning citizens to remember if they smell gas in their homes to leave and call their gas provider from a safe location.
