GREENSBURG, LA — Alcohol use is suspected to be a factor in a fatal crash that took the life of a Holden man.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on August 26, State Troopers investigated a fatal crash that took the life of the unrestrained driver, Thomas Rowland, 22.
The crash occurred on LA 37 near its intersection with LA 449 in St. Helena Parish.
Rowland failed to take a left curve on LA 37 which caused the vehicle’s right side tires to run off road. Rowland overcorrected, which made the vehicle rotate counterclockwise. His vehicle crossed both lanes of LA 37, ran off the road and hit a culvert.
Rowland was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner’s Office.
Alcohol use is suspected with a toxicology analysis to be performed at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
