PORT ALLEN, LA (NBC33) — Organizers of a recall petition against Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter say they've filed a Letter of Intent to present the petition - signatures and all.
Both the Registrar and the Mayor got the notification.
It would take 1,273 signatures to make the petition valid, and organizers say they have nearly 1,400 at this moment.
They plan to turn those signatures over to the Registrar of Voters on September 3. The signatures would then have to verify the signatures, then send the petition on to the Governor, who would decide if and when to set a date for a recall election.
