AMELIA, LA — A Florida man visiting a casino in Amelia was arrested for threatening a security officer.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office was called on August 27 at 9:42 p.m. to a casino in Amelia.
Authorities soon learned that Orion Paul McCranie, 33, of Largo, FL, threatened a casino security officer saying that the officer would “need to call for back up".
The deputy made contact with McCranie and smelled alcohol on his breath. When the deputy asked for his identification, McCranie became distracted, telling the deputy that he lost some of his casino chips.
The deputy asked two more times to see McCranie’s ID before he provided it. Following the investigation, McCranie was placed under arrest.
While patting down the offender, the casino chips that McCranie stated were missing were located in his pants pocket.
McCranie was arrested for Disturbing the Peace and Simple Assault. He was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration and was later released on a $500 bond.
