PORT ALLEN, LA (NBC33) — District 17 State Senator Rick Ward III has pulled out from the national Congressional race.
His main reason for dropping out of the race is to have more time to raise his children.
He has released a statement on the matter:
“While considering the amount of time I will spend campaigning for Congress over the next year and serving in Congress afterwards, it has become very apparent to me that the hours and days away from my family will be extraordinary.
Because our three children are young, I strongly believe I need to spend as much time with them as possible during their formative years.
For this reason, I will not be a candidate for Congress.
This decision is made easier because I greatly enjoy serving the people of the 17th Senatorial District in the Louisiana Senate. There is no better job than representing and fighting for the good, hardworking people I have known all of my life.”
Ward was in the race for less than three weeks after announcing his intention to run.
