BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — With the potential for heavy rain, possible flooding, and strong winds this weekend, local officials are urging residents to make preparations.
“It is imperative that all citizens begin their preparatory measures for not only the possibility of this storm but the rest of hurricane season,” Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden said. “Please remember the Buddy System and use this as a chance to check on the elderly and talk to your neighbors about how you can work together to ensure everyone is Red Stick Ready. Remember to have your Family Disaster Kits updated with the items you need including extra medicine, water, flashlights and batteries to last the first four days. Be sure to top off all fuel supplies.”
Although the system in Caribbean only has about a 50 percent chance of forming into a tropical depression, it does have the potential to push heavy rain into our region. It also has the potential of reforming as it passes over the Yucatan Peninsula into the Gulf
