BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Three men are locked up after they broke into a home, held three people hostage and physically battered them. The only things they took were a cell phone and $3.
According to the arrest report, officers with the Baton Rouge Department were dispatched to a home located on W. Grant Street on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at roughly 11:30 p.m. When they arrived they saw three men running from the home. The officers chased down the individuals later identified as Travis Watson, Courtney Moore, and Edward Franklin.
One victim explained to the officer that it all started when one of the three suspects knocked on the door. The victim went outside and talked with the suspect. The report did not clearly define the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
A short time later the victim was sitting on the front talking on his cell phone when the suspect returned with two men. One of the suspects struck the victim on his head with a semi-automatic pistol, which nearly knocked him unconscious. He managed to run back into the house and lock the door.
The victim claims that the suspects began knocking on the door, but the victim and two other individuals inside the home refused to answer. That’s when one of the suspects allegedly threw a large piece of concrete through the window.
The victims attempted to hide in the bathroom of the home. At that point the suspects managed to kick open the front door. They instructed the victims to come out of the bathroom, to which they eventually complied.
The suspects allegedly held the victims at gunpoint and forced them to kneel on the living room floor. They were also instructed to remove their clothes. One suspect removed a cell phone from the pocket of one victim and $3 from another victim.
Two of the three victims were allegedly hit repeatedly in the back of the head with a pistol, which was later revealed to be a BB gun. The suspects allegedly searched the apartment, but the report did not say whether anything else was taken.
It was at this point when the officers arrived on scene and the suspects fled the scene.
Watson, Moore and Franklin were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, three counts of Aggravated Second-Degree Battery, Criminal Damage to Property, False Imprisonment and Resisting an Officer. They were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Bond was set at $122,500 each.
