BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank has a brand new partner to help restock its empty shelves. IberiaBank is launching a program called "I Gives Back." During this promotion the bank is matching everything you donate to help our hungry population.
The drive runs from now until September 7, 2013. Bank representatives say, they want to help because there's such a need for food in the Baton Rouge-area.
"We've joined forces with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as part of our 'I Gives Back' promotion. It's where we give back to local non-profit organizations and the community," explains Tamara Palmer who's an Assistant Bank Manager for IberiaBank.
Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Warehouse Manager Robert Lockett says this is great news for his organization.
"This would help us dramatically. We have kind of hit a low point right now as far as the donations have dropped off," Lockett said. "Meaning that we have more products going out and less coming in."
If you'd like to donate, you can drop off food or money at one of the seven Baton Rouge-area IberiaBank locations between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Bank officials tell us the bank will match dollar for dollar every monetary donation that comes in for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
