THIBODAUX, LA (NBC33) — A woman was arrested over the weekend after she left behind her money bag in a bank drive-through. Although the bag contained no money, it did have roughly 14 grams of marijuana inside.
The bag was discovered on Friday, Aug. 9 at roughly 6:00 p.m. A customer found it and turned it in to employees at the bank. Police were called when the illegal drug was found inside. Officers linked it to Crystal Fonseca, 32, of Thibodaux.
“She had gone through the drive-through and the vehicle that was directly behind her found the red money bag,” David Melancon, Thibodaux Police Department, said. “The name ‘Fonseca’ was on the bag and it had prescription medication inside with her name on it, as well as the suspected marijuana.”
Fonseca actually contacted police regarding her missing bag because she thought it had been stolen. When talking with police, she confessed that the marijuana was hers.
Fonseca was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
