LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A Baton Rouge man was arrested this weekend after toxicology results showed he was driving under the influence when he caused a fatal crash.
Samuel Doherty, III, 28, was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 11 by Louisiana State Police. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center for two counts of felony Vehicular Homicide. His bond was set at $200,000.
The crash happened on Saturday, July 28 at roughly 9:00 p.m. Doherty was driving on LA Hwy 64 (Magnolia Beach Road) in Livingston Parish when he crossed the center line and hit a vehicle head-on.
Mickel L. Tetreault, 20, of Livingston, and Bryan Payne, 22, of Denham Springs, died as a result of the injuries they sustained from the crash.
Officials say that although he had no alcohol in his system, the test revealed he was under the influence of methamphetamine, oxycodone and marijuana.
