BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — In just two days East Baton Rouge Parish schools will be in full swing again. But before kids can get to school, they've got to get their supplies. On Saturday kids from across the Capital City flocked to the "District 2 for U" back to school fair.
Kids were given everything they need to have a great year, including back packs, school supplies and even some fun games. Councilwoman Chauna Banks-Daniel said she is hoping to give kids the tools they need to succeed this year through the fair.
"We want children to go to school equipped with not only those tangible school supplies, but also with the mentality that they can achieve," said Banks-Daniel.
There were close to ten corporate sponsors helping at the fair. Hundreds of families were able to take advantage of the back to school fair. Kids in East Baton Rouge Parish school system return to school on Monday.
