NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU-CNN) — New Orleans police have identified an 18-year-old man as a suspect in two carjackings that happened in the Marigny.
Police are looking for Derrin Riley.
According to police, Riley is one of the suspects in two carjackings and is sought on charges of Armed Robbery.
Both carjackings happened on Saturday -- one in the 800 block of Clouet Street and one in the 400 block of Marigny Street.
In the Marigny Street incident, which happened about 8:30 p.m. on August 3, police said two men held up two women and their 3-year-old child and told them to put all of their property in their Jeep, which was then stolen by the carjackers. The carjackers allowed the women to get the child out of the back seat, according to a news release from NOPD.
On that same day, another similar carjacking took place in the 800 block of Clouet Street where the victim was robbed and carjacked.
Police said Riley was identified as one of the suspects in this case.
Both vehicles that were stolen were located and are being processed for evidence.
Police said Riley was previously arrested on charges of illegal carrying of a weapon and resisting a police officer.
Anyone with information on Riley's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
