BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — One woman's passion is now a full time job.
Kasie Coleman makes baked concoctions from recipes she created while sitting in a chemo chair.
Over the course of the last three years, she has taken her passion and turned it into a full-fledged business, Sugar Belle, located at 5151 Plank Road in Baton Rouge.
“I got diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in 2010,” Coleman recalled. “I decided at that point, life's too short for not going for it, so we decided to go for it.”
During those 6-7 hour chemo sessions, she had her laptop in hand.
“I would sit in the chemo lounge and write recipes to past the time.”
Her retail location has only been open for three months, but it already making a big statement. Coleman hopes she gets to make a bigger impact, and not just here in Louisiana.
She exclaimed, “I forsee a franchise!”
