BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A few lucky people got a nice surprise Wednesday at the pump. They got some free gas and it's all thanks to Iberia Bank.
Five lucky people, who just happened to be at the Exxon on Coursey Blvd, walked away $25 richer.
"I would like to share with you a random act of kindness just because we're good neighbors," said Iberia Bank branch manager, Toni Daigle.
Nowadays many people are pinching pennies, so anything helps and in more ways than one.
“Everything helps - it doesn't matter where you work - everything helps and I appreciate it,” said lucky driver, Cam Tircuit.
"Money is a really big factor for everyone right now," noted Daigle.
“This helps me out a lot it does," said another lucky driver, Sonita Odoms. "I was only going to put a couple of dollars in."
Some people were a little caught off guard.
“I am going to faint,” said winner, Larry Edmonson. "I never would have thought this would happen to me."
But most of those lucky drivers were just happy and extremely thankful.
"My son's birthday is actually next week so this is $25 I don't have to spend on gas,” said Baton Rouge native, Josh Brewer. “I am glad I came though and thank you Iberia Bank."
So Iberia Bank's five small acts of kindness made five peoples' days, just a little bit better.
"We just spent 100 dollars and it was really nice to share it with people in our community," said Daigle.
Each Iberia bank branch will give out $5 gift cards every day this week.
