ENTERTAINMENT NEWS — Last November, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers founder and CEO Todd Graves surprised the 52 children participating in the 21st annual Kidd’s Kids trip to Disney World with their own free iPad. It was a moment that everyone in the room will remember for the rest of their lives.
This year, Raising Cane’s is taking its support of Kidd Kraddick’s life-changing charitable organization to a new level by sponsoring a live performance showcasing some of pop music’s brightest stars.
The Jonas Brothers – the Grammy-winning, chart-topping band featuring Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas – today confirmed their participation in the first annual “Concert for Kidd’s Kids sponsored by Raising Cane’s” with posts to their Facebook and Twitter feeds. The show, to be held at the House of Blues in Dallas on Thursday, August 15, also includes pop sensation Jason Derulo, Andy Grammer, Cimorelli and Tim Halperin.
Kidd Kraddick, the Dallas-based nationally syndicated radio and television personality, made the blockbuster announcement on his show this morning.
“The Jonas Brothers have supported Kidd’s Kids since 2007, when they came to our send-off party at the height of their fame; so we knew all we had to do was ask and they would be in,” said Kraddick, host of the most-listened-to contemporary morning show in America. “This is turning into a really cool, diverse group of artists, and I’m so grateful to all of them for giving their time to Kidd’s Kids when they could be making big money elsewhere.”
Kidd’s Kids, a program of the Kraddick Foundation, was established in 1991 with the hope of making a difference in the lives of terminally and chronically ill children. Each year, Kidd's Kids offers five amazing days of suspended reality to children whose lives have been ravaged by disease, with an all-expenses paid dream vacation to Disney World for the kids and their immediate family.
“We’re proud to sponsor the inaugural Concert for Kidd’s Kids because we know the funds raised are going to an extraordinary cause,” said Graves. “I had the privilege of attending last year’s trip to Disney World and seeing what a life-altering experience it is for every child and adult there, myself included. So as we discussed what we could do that would be extra special in support of this year’s trip, the concert seemed like the perfect fit.”
A few tickets remain for the show, which can be purchased at the House of Blues box office in Dallas or online at Ticketmaster.com. VIP packages are also available online at www.KiddsKids.com .
“We’ve been taking our Kidd’s Kids families to Disney World for more than 20 years, but this is our first-ever concert for the charity,” said Kraddick. “We wanted to do something fun for our listeners while raising money to fund this year’s Kidd’s Kids trip, and our good friends at Raising Cane’s stepped up to make it all possible.”
Last year, in addition to the iPad surprise, Raising Cane’s held its first Kidd’s Kids Dine-in Day and served as the only nationwide collection point for donations on Kidd’s Kids Day. In total, Cane’s financial support to the Kraddick Foundation in 2012 was in excess of $65,000.
The second-annual Kidd’s Kids Dine-in Day was held on Wednesday, July 24. Every past and current Kidd’s Kid, and their immediate family, was invited to eat free at any of the 160 Raising Cane’s restaurants nationwide. And in honor of Dine-in Day and to kickoff this year’s support, Raising Cane’s presented a $10,000 check to the Kraddick Foundation on Wednesday.
“Todd and his incredible crew at Raising Cane’s stepped up big time for Kidd’s Kids last year, and we’re so excited they’re back with us again to help us do more great things for our families,” said Kraddick. “Cane’s walks the walk when it comes to giving back, and we’re proud that they have chosen to be so generous to our program.”
