BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A Southwest Airlines flight had a hard landing earlier this week at LaGuardia. On board the plane was a Baton Rouge-native, Bryan Foster, who filmed the whole ordeal.
Foster was the winner of a Google contest and was on his way to New York when the incident happened.
Foster and his wife Callista were near an exit seat just over the wing. As the plane was landing in Nashville, something happened with the front landing gear.
“It was definitely a scare, especially after what happened recently in San Francisco,” stated Foster. “That's the first thing that comes to your mind.”
After the flight finally came to a stop, Foster said it wasn't long before smoke started to fill the cabin.
Passengers were able to get an emergency door open . Foster said it took what seemed like 15 minutes for everyone to get off the plane and finally get a good look at what they're all just been through.
“You hit that slide and walk, then turn around and look at the plane. It’s nose down and on the ground and we're like...wow. It was surreal – it’s still sinking in.”
No one was hurt in this crash. The National Transportation Safety Board is still trying to figure out what happened.
As for Foster, no word on whether or not this experience will keep him off planes. Either way, he's set to be home in just a few days.
