BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A Baton Rouge man was arrested for allegedly hitting a young boy in the head, neck and face with a belt.
According to the arrest report the Baton Rouge Police Department was called to investigate on Monday, July 22 at roughly 11:00 p.m. When they arrived to the home on Chippewa Street, they found the child with visible swelling to his eye and he had several lacerations on his neck and head.
The victim told the officer that the suspect, Tasmine Njoku, 25, hit him several times with a belt. He claims that the man also kicked him in the stomach.
The investigating officer questioned Njoku about the incident. He did admit to causing the victim’s injuries, and explained that the beating was a disciplinary action because the boy had urinated on himself.
Njoku was arrested and charged with one count of Cruelty to Juveniles. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $15,000.
