BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Losing it in Louisiana contestants are still pushing to their goals, but for Lesa Coberly, the newest contestant, her journey's a little different.
"The last time I was fit was probably early 20s. I worked out 12 hours a week," Coberly said. "After kids, marriage, and life, I just quit working out. I was ballooning. My weight just kept going up and up and up, and I couldn't stop myself from eating."
Lesa has been working out for six weeks. She is a month behind the rest of the contestants, but she said she's not worried.
"When I first started I thought 'Wow! There's a lot of catch up on. Everyone else has been doing this for a month. They've already lost weight, I haven't lost any weight,'" Coberly said. "I'm not worried about trying to catch up with everybody, but I want to drop weight quicker than I think I am."
Lake Johnson, Lesa's trainer, admits she was worried.
"When it started off, we were trying to get through the warm-up, and she was having trouble doing that," Johnson said. "She'd have to sit down every few minutes, and I told her, 'If this isn't a wake up call I don't know what is.'"
Lesa said it was.
"I'm in my late 40s, and so having the energy to chase after my one-year old grandson is really important to me. I want to do all the things with him," Coberly said. "I want to go skiing. I want to go hiking, and now I'll be able to do that."
"I could tell her anything. She doesn't bat an eye. She just does it," Johnson said. "I mean, she kind of gives me that look after she gets done with her workout because of the amount of pain she's in, but she does everything that I ask."
"Lake, my trainer, just kept telling me it's 80% diet 20% exercise. Be consistent, and it will drop," Coberly said.
"I just want to say to Lesa that I am so proud of her," Johnson said. "She is doing so well. She just means a lot to me because she works so hard and I care a lot about her."}
Lesa said her goal is to be 30 pounds smaller, and she's already more than half-way there. Plus, Lesa's down 15 inches.
