BATON ROUGE, LA — East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Detectives are looking for a woman seen attempting to cash a counterfeit check.
The incident occured at Rosemary Grocery on July 11 at approximately 10:40 a.m.
According to reports, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Division was contacted by a detective from Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office in regards to a business check being altered and presented for cashing in the Baton Rouge area.
The business, Ascension Read Mix, located in Prairieville, reported that the banking information on their business check had been compromised and is now being used on counterfeit checks. On July 5, a customer presented a counterfeit check in excess of $500 for cashing at Rosemary Grocery. The business owner didn’t cash the check being that it was a counterfeit document.
The suspect is described as black female, wearing a black top with blue and black striped stretch pants.
