GONZALES, LA (NBC33) — The 6-year-old girl who was found murdered last week in Harvey will be laid to rest in Donaldsonville.
Visitation for Ahlittia North began at 9:00 a.m. in Gonzales on Monday, July 22. She will be laid to rest in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Donaldsonville.
Ahlittia’s body was found in a trash can on Tuesday, July 16. Deputies arrested her stepfather’s nephew, Matthew Flugence, 20, as the primary suspect, as well as his brother, Russell Flugence, 21, for Obstruction of Justice.
Matthew told investigators that he killed Ahlittia after finding her outside her family’s home on Saturday, July 13. Ahlittia was living with her mother for the summer.
The coroner explained that Ahlittia died from two “aggressive stab wounds” to the neck, and she had two additional stab wounds in her abdomen.
A fund has been set up at any Capital One bank for the family to help pay for funeral and burial expenses. Donations should be made to Ahlittia North.
