BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — A 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital this afternoon after he crashed his kneeboard into a car. Officials say he is currently listed in stable condition.
EMS and the Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the call shortly after 3:30 p.m. It happened at the intersection of Kentucky and Polk Street.
“The child was on his board coming down from the hill,” Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, BRPD, explained. “The vehicle at the stop sign was pulling out when the child ran into his car.”
Officials say the 64-year-old driver stopped to help the child. EMS transported the boy to the hospital where he is listed in stable condition. According to police, the majority of his injuries appear to be related to road rash sustained from landing on the concrete.
The driver was not issued any citation and is not believed to be at fault for the crash. The child is expected to make a full recovery.
