BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Motorcycle riders helped turn Siegen Lane red white and blue to show support for the military and veterans.
" I get all excited and patriotic when we see the flag go out," Paul Aubert, regional commander of the Nation of Patriots, described. "Really what brings a joy to my eyes is when I see our military line up in front watching these guys leave, because that is for them."
The riders are did their part to carry one flag on it's patriotic ride to raise money for wounded vets. It's all part of the Nation of Patriots 'Patriot Tour 2013' passing the flag ceremony.
"Many of them say it's an honor to receive this help from us but the honor is really to stand next to them," Aubert said.
The flag's stars and stripes danced in the wind behind a bike starting in Wisconsin winding it's way across the country making a pit stop in Baton Rouge.
Aubert said the goal is "Patriotism honoring our armed forces our veterans and remembering our fallen."
Each stop the flag is passed on to a new rider. The rider does not stop until his mission is compete.
"Rain does not deter our men and women in uniform from their mission it will not deter the rest of ours," Aubert said. "The flag will travel irregardless of the weather."
Aubert explained the Baton Rouge leg of the tour brings out big crowds to honor the armed forces "past present and fallen."
"We have a lot of veterans that ride. A lot of people that have served our country. They've always been fantastic the most benevolent group of people I have ever been associated with," Aubert stated.
Last year the national organization raised around $33,000 to help 23 wounded vets and their families. This year they've already beaten that goal and they are only half way done with the tour.
Saturday the flag went from Baton Rouge to Lafayette. It will also make stops later in Alexandria, and Monroe.
The Patriot Tour started on Memorial Day in Wisconsin and will wrap up back there on Labor Day.
