BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — An alleged confession and the cell phone from a murder victim are the key pieces of evidence that lead to the arrest of an 18-year-old, officials say.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Trevor Georgetown for the murder of Franklin Lara, 19 . It happened on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at roughly 10:00 p.m.
Witnesses at the scene told investigators that Lara was seen in a vehicle with another man prior to the murder. They say the second man was wearing a ski mask. The same suspect was later seen running on foot to the GSRI area after the shooting.
According to reports, Georgetown told someone about the murder the next day. He gave that person a cell phone, which was later determined to be the victims.
Investigators believe robbery was the motive for the shooting.
