BATON ROUGE, LA — After almost a year, officials say they're pretty happy with the work they've done through the BRAVE program, but they say there's still more work that needs to be done.
District Attorney Hillar Moore says after they called in 40 well-known “trouble makers”, ten decided to take advantage of the help they've been offered. While it may seem like a small number, Moore says it's still a success in their book.
"Nationwide, just even the people who have asked for help is less than 20 percent, so our numbers are good and we're still reaching out to some of the people at these call-ins,” stated Moore. “I think the number can only go up."
The police department is also putting on a “guns for gas” drive this summer. They'll take any guns - no questions asked - and give gas money in exchange.
