Eagle Point, OR — An Eagle Point, Oregon man was sent to jail after attempting to rape his wife in front of their two children and killing a lamb on his property.
On June 6 at 7:05 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was called out to 15000 block of Highway 62 in Eagle Point, Oregon in reference to a physical domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, they found Leland Kinkey, 46, running around his property naked, screaming, and splattered with blood.
Deputies detained Kinkey after he admitted he slammed a lamb into a vehicle, and then broke its neck, killing it. He stated he killed the lamb because he “was trying to be a man”.
According to witnesses, Kinkey became agitated due to mechanical issues with a vehicle. After becoming angry, he tried to forcibly rape his wife.
His wife was able to escape the attack and tried to take their two children away; however, during her attempts to leave, Kinkey pulled his wife out of the van by her hair, started beating her, and tried to rape her again, in front of the two children.
Two other adults living on the property were able to help stop Kinkey and called 911.
Kinkey was arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Attempted Rape, Felony Assault, Strangulation and Aggravated Animal Abuse.
