Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Some of the largest stars of the big top chipped in today to help raise food for the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
At “Po-Boys and Peanuts”, a special elephant brunch, children and their parents were treated to a special meal with the stars of the circus.
The price of admission - just a few cans of food for the food bank.
Mike Manning with the GBRFB said fun events like this are crucial for helping the needy in our area.
"We need as much help as we can get,” stated Manning. “With what we're facing, we have a 21 million meal gap in our area that we're trying to fill, so anything we can do to help us is greatly appreciated. Help us try and reduce that gap in meals."
Manning says this is the first time the food bank has worked with the circus, but he's more than happy to do it again.
