Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — The LSU Lady Tigers are known for their talent on the court, but on the sidelines, it’s their coach giving them the push to bring their talent to the next level.
Nikki Caldwell expressed how some drills and exercises done behind the scenes help the Lady Tigers on the court. Off the court, however, the coach requires her athletes to sit in the first three rows in class and encourages them not to skip any - if they miss a class, they don't play.
“We pride ourselves not only on improving our young ladies, as far as just on the basketball court and teaching them a skill, but we also pride ourselves on those who have stayed there four years with us, and have graduated,” stated Caldwell. “In doing so, we are on track to have a 100 percent graduation rate."
Since Caldwell has coached the tigers, they have reached the Sweet Sixteen. She says hopefully the team will win a championship in the near future.
