EVANGELINE PARISH, LA (NBC33) — A 15-year-old from Basile died yesterday after he was involved in a crash on his four-wheeler.
The Louisiana State Police reports that the incident happened on Sunday, June 16 shortly before 4:00 a.m. We’re told the victim, Matthew Neal, was driving his four-wheeler on LA 757 when he was hit from behind by a truck.
Although the driver of the truck tried to avoid hitting the four-wheeler, he was unable to avoid contact. Investigators note that the four-wheeler did not have working lights. They also say neither of the teens were wearing helmets.
Neal and his passenger, a 16-year-old, were both thrown off. Neal was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The passenger is hospitalized with moderate injuries.
