HAMMOND, LA (NBC33) — A detailed description and a clear photo helped police capture a bank robber shortly after the crime was committed. That’s because the public stepped up to the call of duty.
The Hammond Police Department arrested Edmund Nunez of Ponchatoula for casually robbing the First Guaranty Bank in Hammond on Saturday, June 15. They say several people came forward to report the suspect’s identity after the story was released to media outlets across south Louisiana.
The robbery happened shortly before the bank was set to close. Nunez allegedly walked in, handed the teller a note demanding money, took the cash and then casually walked out the front door.
Officials say Nunez was taken into custody without incident.
