PONCHATOULA, LA (NBC33) — Zachary Green  loved soccer, so his friends and family gathered in Ponchatoula this morning to play a game in honor of his memory.
“He was just a wonderful man,” Kerry Pitre, a close friend of the family, said. “I’ve known him since he was a baby.”
The Hammond-native was killed Thursday, June 13 from the blast at the Williams Olefin plant  in Geismar. He began working with the company in October 2012 as an operator.
"We are grieving for the loss of Zach who was part of our Williams community,” Alan Armstrong, CEO of Williams’ Companies, said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time of sorrow.”
Green’s wife and his daughter were in attendance at Saturday’s game, which was held at alma matter, Ponchatoula High School.
No information has been provided as to when the funeral service will be held.
