BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — In the wake of the chemical plant explosion Thursday morning, Our Lady of the Lake was more prepared than ever. This was because Wednesday and Thursday the hospital and staff were undergoing evaluations to renew their trauma certification.
Those surgeons who were reviewing their certification readiness saw first hand how Our Lady of the Lake handled a real critical situation.
Our Lady of the Lake usually sees up to 2 trauma patients in each day, and Thursday they flew in 11 people who were initially treated as trauma patients.
Of those 11, two people as of Thursday evening, are still in critical condition at the hospital.
