St. Landry Parish, La — An Opelousas man has been charged with having over $160,000 in fake check and money orders.
On June 12, authorities exercuted a search warrant at a home in the 1100 block of Stardust Street in Opelousas, LA. The warrant was obtained by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations as a result of a continuing joint investigation into the trafficking of counterfeit checks and money orders.
Investigators were able to recover $160,079.50 worth of counterfeit checks and money orders.
Nelson Durald, 47, was charged with 151 individual counts of Monetary Instrument Abuse.
