NBC NATIONAL NEWS — Many of us have fond memories of our high school prom-- the excitement and thrill of attending a formal event with our peers. But group of local students have never had the opportunity to go to their own prom.
So some generous volunteers got together to host the very first one in Western New York, for students with special needs.
Over 80 young women and men got all dressed up in their finest and came to the American Legion Post in Blasdell.
Most of these special education students attend special schools and programs outside their normal district that may not have a prom or at least one where they can mix with their own peers.
