Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Louisiana lawmakers worked down to the last minute to pass next year’s budget.
This is one of the first budgets in recent years that didn’t have heavy cuts to higher education and health care.
A major hurdle in the budget process was Medicaid expansion; more than a dozen bills were brought before the Seante and House.
Governor Jindal's original budget was for $500 million; as it stands now, it's only $80 million.
NBC33's Alex Deiro will have a full report on the passing of the budget on NBC33 News at 5 and 10.
