St. Martinville, La — A St. Martinville man has been arrested after authorities intercepted a package filled with marijuana shipped to his address.
On May 29, agents took the package, which was in transit from Mexico to an address in St. Martinville.
After confirming the package contained a substantial amount of marijuana, agents delivered the package to the address under controlled circumstances.
Pablo Rodriguez, 38, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule 1; Illegal Use Controlled Dangerous Substances/Minor; Transactions involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses. The marijuana (ten pounds) had a street value of over $50,000.00.
Rodriguez has an extensive criminal history for drug trafficking including an arrest in Texas for trafficking more than 1000 pounds of marijuana. There were two small children present at the residence at the time of the delivery and were later released into the custody of a family member. Rodriguez was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the above charges.
