BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Louisiana is helping women in the Baton Rouge area find better paying jobs.
The program's called "Beyond Jobs."
It is a joint effort from Goodwill and Walmart designed to help under-employed and unemployed women get jobs by helping them build essential skills.
Kandee Wickboldt, program manager of Beyond jobs, said each woman will receive a complete career assessment, job training, and placement services.
"Certainly, we do have women who are currently working on the case load, and these women are at jobs where they wouldn't have without our help," Wickboldt said.
Wickboldt said they are currently serving 120 women in the Baton Rouge community.
"It's important to women in the community because women are seeking better jobs," Wickboldt said. "They lack the skills what we do is do a career assessment and see exactly where these women are with their skills, and see what we can do to enhance the skills of the women."
They are taking appointments all this week from 9:00 A.M. To 2:00 P.M. at 647 Main St. You can contact them at (225) 308-0220.
