WALKER, LA (NBC33) — A Walker church is looking for answers after the church was broken into Wednesday night.
Randy Powell, Minister of Education at Walker Baptist Church, received some bad news thursday morning.
"I was a little agitated and a little distressed, we came up here and Walker Police Department was already at the scene, so we just helped them with the investigation," Powell said.
They said the burglar came through this window and stole nearly $600 from their safe.
"Well our youth minister had just Wednesday collected some money for teenagers regarding some upcoming trips for the summer and so that was the primary source of that money," Powell said.
Even though the burglars are still on the loose, Powell is trying to look for the silver lining.
"Well I hope it means for our church, it will be drawn closer together as a body and strengthen our resolve and continue to be a positive influence in the community," Powell said.
He is not just worried about his church. Believe it or not, he is also worried about the people who did this.
"I regret that they felt the need to do this and we just hope as a church that some good will come out of this for them as well as our church," Powell said.
They tell us they are still waiting on the insurance adjusters to come and assess the damage. If you have any information about the burglary, call Crimestoppers at 3-4-4-STOP.
