WALKER, LA (NBC33) — Police need your help to identify the individual(s) responsible for stealing money from a local church.
The Walker Police Department reports that the burglary occurred at the Walker Baptist Church (10696 Florida Blvd) late Wednesday, May 22, or early Thursday morning. They say staff members discovered the break-in after arriving at work.
“Based upon our initial investigation, it appears that the offenders entered the Church building through an unsecured window,” Captain John Sharp said. “The suspects then made their way to the Church offices where the safe and cash box were located.”
The burglars forced their way into the office and emptied the cash box and took a safe with them. It’s described as a black steel safe, approximately a little over 2 feet tall, 2 feet wide and deep, weighing roughly 250 to 300 pounds.
“We are asking the public to help us identify and locate the individuals responsible for this crime,” Captain Sharp said. “Anyone seeing any unusual activity or suspicious vehicle at the Church, possibly a pickup truck or van, between approximately 11:00 p.m. Wednesday and 3:30 a.m. Thursday is asked to contact Walker Police.”
