Baton Rouge, La — The USS KIDD Veterans Memorial will honor and pay tribute to service members who paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of America on Monday, May 27, during a ceremony to be held at the commencement of the Memorial Day Celebration.
The Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Louisiana Memorial Plaza.
This event, which will honors our fallen heroes and their families, is free and open to the public.
The ‘Father of the USS KIDD,’ Congressman Henson Moore, will be the keynote speaker.
Attendees are welcome to proceed to the museum theatre for a performance by the Baton Rouge Music Club Chorus immediately following the ceremony. These talented vocalists will be providing a tribute performance to all of the men and women of the armed forces.
The USS KIDD Veterans Memorial celebrates Memorial Day in order to honor those who have paid the ultimate price to ensure our freedom. It also provides attendees an opportunity to stop and give thanks for the many who have died protecting our freedoms.
Memorial Day guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and bring an American flag. USS KIDD ship tours will be available at the regular admission price of: $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children ages 5-12.
