NEW ORLEANS, LA (NBC33) — An inmate who was roughly a month away from being released will end up with more time behind bars once he’s located. That’s because he allegedly walked off from the transitional work program.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that Leroy Smith, 29, left his job on Sunday, May 19. Investigators are currently working to track him down.
Officials say Smith was admitted into the program on Jan. 22. He was serving time for possession of cocaine, burglary and probation violation. He was scheduled to be released on June 28.
If you know anything regarding Smith’s whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111.
