BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Christians from across Baton Rouge gathered together to pray for peace in the city.
Together Baton Rouge hosted it's first Bible study at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church Sunday.
Event goers discussed the story of Pentecost the day Christians believe the holy spirit came to the followers of christ. It was a day to unite people of all different backgrounds under a common goal putting your faith in action.
"The realization by so many people that we really do have something in common to build on. Also the fact that in order to make the city what we really desire to be it's going to take all of us," Rev. Melvin Rushing, Pastor Progressive Baptist Church, explained.
The official 'Our Faith in Action' Bible study program begins in July and will run through December. Members will meet once a month. There will be a special city wide gathering in January.
