Iberia Parish, La — A New Iberia man is behind bars after calling authorities and telling them that there was a bomb at a court house.
On May 15 at approximately 4:15 p.m., dispatchers with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office recieved a call of a bomb threat.
Information recieved by dispatchers was that a bomb was placed at "the court house."
The caller did not specify which court house, City or Parish, the bomb was supposedly in.
Both buildings were evacuated and searched by deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office and New Iberia City Fire Department for any suspicious items. No items resembiling an explosive device were located in either building.
Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office were able to locate and identify a suspect within two hours of the initial call. Detectives arrested Mario Jackson, 24.
Jackson was charged with False Communication of a Planned Arson. He also had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear for Drug Court. Jackson was then booked into the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.
