Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Women across the state are calling for help and more healthcare. They're asking for more access to health options, and they say lawmakers can help.
Today, dozens of women got together to ask legislators to take the Medicaid expansion.
The Louisiana Center for Health Equity says one in four women in the state are uninsured, and they believe that number is too high.
"One way to support women is to provide us with the healthcare we so desperately need to keep us healthy," stated Alma Stewart with LCHE.
Several attempts to expand Medicaid by lawmakers have failed already this session. Governor Jindal has also said several times he'll veto any laws to expand Medicaid.
