BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — The fight to find another way to pay for Louisiana's school voucher program begins tomorrow at the Capitol.
The Black Alliance for Educational Options plans to rally to get lawmakers to come up with a new way to pay for the controversial program.
Last week a judge ruled the way the state funds the voucher program is against the law.
BAEO officials say parents need the program to rescue their children from failing schools.
"When the legislature passed this program, they made a promise to these families,” stated BAEO board chair Dr. Howards Fuller. “What we want is for that promise to be fulfilled. A way must be found to fund the program; we know that that is possible.”
The rally is set for tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. on the steps of the State Capitol.
