Baton Rouge, La — In a step toward finalizing recommendations for the School Board’s consideration of health insurance options for Medicare-eligible retired employees, the district announces two informational sessions for employees scheduled for Thursday, May 9.
The informational sessions are open to employees with Medicare Parts A and B and who are 65 years old or older, or those who are turning 65 in the next year and plan to have Medicare Parts A and B.
In order to ensure proper representation for those directly impacted by Medicare Parts A and B coverage, participants are asked to bring proof of their Medicare Parts A and B enrollment.
The session will also provide an opportunity for participants to fill out requisite paperwork in compliance with the Board mandate that those eligible for Medicare Parts A and B show proof of enrollment. Other retirees are welcome to observe and attend, but participation will be limited to those directly impacted by participation in Medicare Parts A and B.
Two sessions will be held on Thursday, May 9, one from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and the other from 2:00–4:00 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Instructional Resource Center, 1022 S. Foster Drive, next door to the School Board office. Both sessions will cover the same information so attendees may choose to attend either session, but do not need to attend both.
School district staff and representatives of the Mercer healthcare consulting team will go over the various options available for Medicare coverage. Representatives from both United Healthcare and Humana will also be on hand to answer questions.
