BATON ROUGE, LA — Home Builders from around the state will gather on the steps of the capitol today to show their support for home ownership.
The rally is being organized by the Louisiana Home Builders Association, to lobby local governments to support home ownership, which strengthens communities, while creating a strong Louisiana economy.
“Home ownership is a big part of the American Dream,” said Jon Luther, Executive Vice President of the Greater New Orleans Home Builders Association. “Home Ownership is more than a financial investment, owning your home means owning your future – a place to raise your family, fulfill your dreams and create strong communities.”
Just as an individual home is important to the family that lives in it, housing is important to the economy as a whole – it typically accounts for over 15 percent of the national economy. This figure includes both the building new homes, as well as additions and remodels on existing structures.
Members of the Louisiana Home Builders Association from throughout the state will rally to encourage law makers to support legislation that makes home ownership accessible to all. As the economy continues to recover from the 2007 Housing Bubble Crisis, LHBA works to support builders and associates who are leading the way out of the recession.
The National Home Builders Association counts Louisiana among the top-tier of states whose housing markets are expected to return to normal levels in 2013.
