BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Two separate drug investigations resulted in the arrests of eight people and the removal of roughly $77,000 in illegal narcotics and a handful of firearms.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reports that the arrests were made on Wednesday, May 1.
The first investigation was a follow-up to citizen complaints regarding drug activity inside a broken down vehicle located in the driveway of a home on Oswego Street.
Officials say officers approached the vehicle and noticed a drug transaction in progress. When they got closer, they claim drugs were in plain view.
The suspects were detained and officers searched the vehicle, as well as the connecting home. They recovered 102 grams of crack cocaine, 552 grams of marijuana, a semi-automatic firearm, and just under 2,000 in cash. Investigators estimate the value of the drugs at roughly $7,000.
The final arrests came after warrants were executed at a storage unit located at The Storage Center on Oak Villa Blvd and a home located on E. Tampa Drive.
Investigators located over half a pound of cocaine, 15 pounds of marijuana, pharmaceuticals, firearms, ammunition, digital scales and over $33,000 in cash. The value of the drugs has an estimated street value of just under $70,000.
Arrests for the first case include:
Mack Lee, 28, of Baton Rouge charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II and Schedule I, Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
Ronisha Spears, 24, of Baker charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II and I, Interfering with a Police Investigation, and Obstruction of Justice.
Keandre Hill, 27, of Baton Rouge charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I.
Kyrus Mobley, 29, of Baton Rouge charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II.
Torrence Tate, 24, of Baton Rouge was arrested for being a fugitive. His charges were not disclosed.
Arrests for the second case include:
Glenn Marshall, 39, of Baton Rouge charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine in Excess of 200 grams, marijuana, Hydrocodone, Alprazolam, Clonazepam; Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Violation of a Drug Free Zone.
Anthony George, 38, of Baton Rouge charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana (second offense), and Violation of a Drug Free Zone.
Glen Bradford, 18, charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Violation of a Drug Free Zone.
All of the suspects were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Officers with the BRAVE Unit reportedly initiated the first investigation, and officers with the Narcotics Division conducted the second investigation.
