SORRENTO, LA (NBC33) — The Town of Sorrento missed out on thousands of dollars because of unpaid traffic tickets and unpaid utility bills. That's according to a new report from the state legislative auditor's office.
Auditors found the town has a problem collecting money for traffic tickets and court fees. They say the town is owed $113,000 from violators. The auditor also found the town has a lot of people who didn't pay their utility bills. Auditors say the town never end up shutting off services to them. Now the town can't keep up with the cost.
